Dr. Arvind Conjeevaram

Dr. Arvind Conjeevaram completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Govt Medical College in Mysore in 1989, graduating with distinction. He went on to do his post-graduation (DNB) in General Medicine in Madras. He was awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship ODASSS to undergo training in Nephrology at the Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Post-Graduate Medical School in London, U.K.   He completed the Diplomate in Nephrology Examinations of the University of London with a mark of Distinction in 1995.

Dr. Conjeevaram worked as a Nephrologist at the Singapore General Hospital in Singapore from 1997-2002 gaining experience in this field, and enjoying a prolonged stint in research, having published and presented several papers. In 2003, he returned to Bangalore and started working with The Bangalore Hospital and The Sagar Hospitals as a Consultant Nephrologist. He also works at Trustwell and SRV Agadi Hospitals, where he leads their Nephrology Departments. His main interests are Acute Care Nephrology, Glomerulonephritis, and Renal Transplantation. He has established Dialysis and Transplant Units in several hospitals where he practices.

He is the Past President (Convenor) of the Nephrology Association of Karnataka (NAK). Through the NAK, he has set up a website for kidney patients with information on kidney disease and how to prevent it. He was the Organizing Secretary of the 1st Symposium of the Nephrology Association of Karnataka in 2009. He has been a speaker and a chairperson for several conferences, CMEs and meetings and continues to indulge in clinical research. In pursuit of patient advocacy, he collaborates with the Kidney Warriors Foundation in India and actively engages in kidney patient groups, promoting education and providing diet counseling during meetings.

He engages globally on Twitter, discussing Nephrology topics. He has set up a Nephrology case discussion forum called #ECNeph and has connected with Nephrologists in 18 countries. Recognized for his impact, he received the Nathan Hellman Social Media Award in 2018. He leads social media committees for major nephrology conferences worldwide and contributes extensively to @ISNeducation's educational efforts on platforms like Twitter and Facebook. His roles include Chair of the ISN social media team and leadership positions within the ISN Education Working Group.
